Description
A short note from Charles Downing to Robert Starr which accompanied Downing's sending of volume one of his Encyclopaedia of Fruits which, according to Downing, is "the same as the second revised edition... except that this is in two vols. with an appendix." Downing requests that Starr let him know whether the first volume reached him safely so as to send him the second volume. Downing also informed Starr as to his recent fruit successes; "Fruit of all kinds except grafts are promising an abundant crop - pears however are not a full crop."
